[NU Sports] kill PSU football

Sorry - can't let this go as just a disagreement when the main proposal itself is so absurd.

The cavalier way in which you are willing to act to appease the mob (mostly a media-frenzy camera mob, Brad) is frightening and indeed shows mobocracy and rash decision making at its worst.

I'm sorry, but throw-away lines like "life's not fair" or moral pretzel-twisting to say that it's nothing compared to what 10, 20 or 100 boys are suffering DOES NOT make it the right decision.

If you're going to give a university the "death penalty" and close down its football program, you need to show some way in which these actions affected the football program or the students at the university -- no player on this team is remotely linked to the scandal and no issues of competitive or academic integrity for these students were harmed.

By these wild streams of logic, the entire athletic program needs to be shut down because the AD knew more and did less -- heck, shut down the entire university, right?

It's not just these student athletes who have been working for years to pursue a dream and have done nothing wrong, but also the overall community - especially one like State College - where it would be more than just fans, but real jobs and real people affected. I'm not sure how you can justify that wrong by saying that it at least isn't as bad as the other wrong.

We're getting WAY too caught up in this cable news mob that apparently learned nothing from Duke Lacrosse or numerous other scandals in the past. Take a breath. Turn off the news. Let oxygen flow to the brain again and we'll hopefully all realize that the thoughts here need to be with the victims and the outrage needs to be directed towards the people who did these acts and covered them up -- not at student athletes and a community who have no role in this.

I think Alan was right, but I appreciate the good debate from last night.  
The fact that college football and the big money it brings has corrupted the 
most basic human value we have, protecting our children, is beyond belief. 
It  shows that a rethinking of our priorities is needed and the death 
penalty for  PSU football is appropriate.  Sure, innocent football players and 
fans will  be harmed, but that pales in comparison with the harm to those 10, 
20, or 100  boys raped by that sicko and shielded by his enablers who were 
the heart and  soul of the PSU football family.
