[NU Sports] one angle I wonder about

To use newspaper terms for us Medill folk ...

It would be like canning the entire staff of the Sun-Times just because their publisher is a sleazy criminal embezzler.

Yes, life's not fair -- but that doesn't excuse making unfair and overreaching decisions.

There is absolutely no reason to cancel any PSU football games -- especially now that Paterno is not on the sidelines.

Would you just close the entire university? After all, this is more of a school scandal with the university president than a football program one.

C'mon Alan, don't get caught up in the media frenzy -- we need to take a breath and sensibly address this situation.

Stephen

Stephen,

The argument that "no player on the football team is involved and therefore they shouldn't be punished" holds zero water. See Reggie Bush and this year's USC team, as I mentioned before. Life is not fair. That's the way it is.

Paterno has his moral mistakes to live with, but he is not legally charged with anything, the facts are not all out yet and it doesn't involve anything with the football players or team on the field. He may not deserve to be the coach, but they deserve to play!!!
