[NU Sports] McQueary

Many have shown justified anger towards McQueary for not stopping what he
witnessed or doing something immediately. I honestly don't know what I
would have done but hope that I would have at least gone and immediately
called the authorities. He did, at least, notify his superior (Paterno)
the next day and therefore apparently satisfied the legal requirement
(since he was not indicted). Note that PSU has been stating that he is
"out of the office recruiting" but was probably more likely to have been
sent home indefinitely after this all came out on Saturday. More on his
background: he grew up in State College, played for JoePa, came back as a
grad assistant (when this happened), and is now a full time assistant coach
(WRs) for PSU - you'd recognize him as he is the redhead always seen on the
sideline calling in plays.
BTW, my full thoughts on the situation are now on HTP, if you care to read:
http://hailtopurple.com/jhodges/comment11k09.html - to sum it up, Paterno
and Spanier should be removed immediately.
Note on Paterno's retirement: it was certainly a unilateral move on his
part, and I hope the trustees step in and remove him today. I have no clue
how he, Spanier, and McQueary weren't immediately put on administrative
leave - Spanier's inaction and questionable backing of the 2 university
employees who were indicted is just plain bad leadership (if you can call
it leadership). (Though it may turn out that the board has already been
working on removing them and it's just not public yet; if that is the case
the board should have done a better job getting in front of this).
