Spanier cancelled Paterno's press conference as well as Paterno's
appearance on the Big Ten coaches teleconference (both are standing weekly
events).  Previously, PSU announced that Paterno would only take comments
concerning this week's game.  Paterno's son, Scott, apparently reported
this morning that the elder Paterno was disappointed in the cancellation as
he was ready to address the questions that he would undoubtedly face
(apparently there were upwards of 150 media on site compared to the usual
20 or so).

It appears as though this is all stemming from Spanier.  Yahoo writer Dan
Wetzel's thoughts on Spanier from even before the press conference
