Wow. This whole story is very upsetting. I have only read the ESPN story and plan to read more today. I don't convict based on media reports alone, but this clearly stems from more than a single allegation, which is troubling. For the record, if I could, I would personally put a bullet in the head of anyone who harms a child like this. I am not joking.

It terms of Coach Paterno's situation, I think the section below is the most damaging. I doubt Paterno is in legal trouble, but in terms of public opinion you DO NOT wait even a single day before contacting the police when you hear something like this. Ever.

I have always admired Penn State, Joe Paterno and Sandusky (when he was an active coach). I would like to wake up tomorrow and believe that this was a bad dream.

"Despite a powerful eyewitness statement about the sexual assault of a child, this incident was not reported to any law enforcement or child protective agency, as required by Pennsylvania law," Kelly said. There's no indication that anyone at school attempted to find the boy or follow up with the witness, she said.
