[NU Sports] Umm...'BAMA-LSU

Have to disagree, Coach Roy. He throws with almost as much sidearm motion as a submarine pitcher in baseball, and apparently cannot throw deep. We could--and did--stack the box against him.

Meanwhile, what a night of College FB! LSU over 'Bama with FG, Okie State hangs on against KSU, Razorbacks over Gamecocks, and even UCLA over Ariz State, which misses FG to win. By the way, Les Miles was very classy in interview after big win. He seems to get it. He was calm on sideline during game, which seems to transmit to his team, and apparently isn't unwilling to suspend his players who go astray. He actually seems to enjoy coaching in a big game.

And, of course, there was lots and lots of mentioning of 'Cats over Nebraska, with great replays of Ebert TD, etc--on CBS, ABCn ESPN,..... Finally, some well-earned R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

I thought Martinez was a good as advertised but the key was that NU shut down a lot of the
option game all afternoon. Several times Burkhead was nailed in the backfield - he only
ran for 69 yards after you took off the 11 yards worth of TFL and their entire running
game ran for 149 yds but lost 27 for a net of only 122 yards. How many yards did they put
up in their win over MSU?

Martinez did out pass NU and distributed his throws to a fairly good number of receivers.

I really think the key was clock management at the end of the game, they almost threw in
the towel after their last TD drive, and the UNL Defense never did figure out how to stop
NU's running game. The two early fumble losses when they were driving in the first half
didn't help their cause either.

Guess they won't be in the top 10 tomorrow.

The two defenses are both fantastic, although LSU misses assingments and has given up some
big plays as a result. Soumd familiar--except for last two games? That was a key
today--no big plays or breakdowns, which is partly a function of Martinez being a
one-dimensional QB.

I was expecting more offense from both teams. But I thought the Nebraska
game was going to be a high scoring one, too.

Okie State is in a bit of trouble against KSU tonight.
