Actually you're right.

I don't think that they will be able to clean up Memorial Stadium that
quickly and might, as a result of the loss of human life associated with
the riot, just close the whole thing down.  They would leave the
structure, however, as a stark reminder of what can happen when a whole
state becomes obsessed with just one football team.

Jeff, the first requirement in storytelling is 'suspension of
disbelief'.

I'm not sure your scenario passes that test.

But then, my mother used to send me letters about life back home
(a small town in NW Illinois) and I used to think most of them would
not have passed the 'suspension of disbelief' test, either.

But as one writer noted:  The difference between reality and fiction
is that reality doesn't have to make sense.
