Wonderful story.

To build some on Roy's reply, however, our kids returning from the current wars aren't getting the care they need and as a result are committing suicide at an alarming rate. On average 18 vets are committing suicide every day. It's not just the vets either. According to advocacy groups, more active duty soldiers are killing themselves every day than are being killed in combat.

These kids have been subject to multiple deployments which have stressed them and their families. When they finally leave the military, they are often seriously traumatized. They can't work. They can't maintain a relationship. They often can't even leave the house. It currently takes on average eight months just to process a disability claim. Start to get the picture?

"Now, at 31, he's set himself a new goal: He wants to be the go-to guy for difficult
patients - the patients everyone else is having trouble with."

Thanks to him, and guys like him, we have soldiers requalifying for the service even after
losing limbs. When I first saw amputees playing basketball or running, I was skeptical,
but the dreams of WW II guys like Hank Viscardi are finally coming true for just about
everyone who suffers an amputation and want to continue their life.

An amazing man from an amazing family.
