This doesn't really seem to me to be that thorny of an issue, but if  
it helps you rationalize it, look at it this way:  The celebrations  
would have been the same had we killed or captured Bin Laden.

Even if you oppose the death penalty, when a murderer is killed  
because he refuses to peacefully surrender, there's no reason society  
can't rejoice in the outcome.  Had we dragged his body through the  
streets, tortured him, or otherwise given him what he deserved, then  
you could question it.  But nothing like that happen.  Quite the  
opposite, actually.  He was given a proper burial within 24 hours per  
his religious custom.
