I'm sure that the knowledge that you could have a team like Princeton be competitive was on BC's mind when he took the NU job.

I don't think he realized how hard the recruiting would be - after all those big guys with brains tend to drift towards Stanford or the Ivy League (where they don't have athletic scholarships, but where a kid who can play sports can get a full "academic" ride - ask Craig Robinson.)

I've seen interviews with several kids on the east coast who would thrive at NU but who choose to go to the Ivies because the cost is the same after financial aid, and Princeton/Yale/Penn/Hah-vahd still carries a lot of more weight than NU around the pool at the country club.

We need to work at getting a few kids recruited by Lacrosse here in Delaware.... the good kids are going to Salisbury State, a Div III power.

But when you see the team that Princeton, without the benefit of an
athletic scholarship, was able to put on the court, there is definitely
hope for NU. Their biggest guy is a 6-11 sophomore who doesn't start
and averages around 3 points and 3 rebounds per game. Like NU, they
usually give away a lot of size at center. They were able to take a
much more athletic Kentucky team within a basket of a huge upset. We
were that close to a couple of big upsets too. It is definitely
possible.
