[NU Sports] Not the refs

I really think Cobb is the guy they've recruited to be the "slasher."

Marcotullio is the "Mad bomber," with Shurna and Crawford in a dual rebound/long range
shot role.

Still have to see a really good PG to make things work next year, but then we all said
that 4 years ago when Juice arrived in Evanston.

Wouldn't you love to have had a backcourt of Juice and Jitim? With the younger Seacat or
Moore coming off the bench to loosen things up?

Some of it is the other way around too Part of success of the trey strategy is to be able
to burn the defense inside if they come out on you. If you feel you can gamble that the
team won't be successful inside you play tight on the outside. Unfortunately we didn't
have that alternative. Tom was also spot on mentioning the need for the backcourt guys
being able to penetrate. Our offense is either throw it around the perimeter for a 3, or
attempt a Princeton back door cut. With what BC has ,that may have been the best he could
do but its tough to get far with those weapons alone

The point of the trey is to pull the defenders outside so the backdoor cuts work.

Wazoos matchup zone, something we used to know a lot about, didn't allow for the cutters
until later in the first half, after we started to hit 3 pointers.

Had a few of those early 3's gone in, we would have had a very different result, with a
lot more scoring inside on layups.

But, they contested the 3's and there were no fouls so the weakness of the 3 pointer was
exposed.

I thought the non-turnover in OT was what killed it for NU, altho we should have been able
to get a cutter or two early in OT.

Yes as I have mentioned many times relying on the trey is risky business. Unfortunately we
missed quite a few open treys in the OT, particularly in the closing minute . Our 3 point
shooting probably got us to the NIT, but in the end it knocked us out. This is not a
criticism per se ,just confirming my beliefs that significant efforts need to be made on
getting a few big men to enable us to have an inside game

I watched the last few minutes of the 2nd half and overtime.

During that time, I didn't see any obviously bad officiating, but
I did see a very physical game with the Cats not shooting well
under the pressure, especially in overtime.
