Interesting article by Skip Myslenski on NUsports.com on the Cats' first practice wearing pads and smacking each other around. It seems that Quentin Williams forgot about baseball and concentrated on football during the off season. As a result, he's gained 15 pounds (of muscle, presumably) and is much stronger. Lord knows we need more strength in the defensive line. Niko Mafuli, on the other hand, has dropped 16 lbs. of fat and "is in the best shape of his life." He says that he upped his "protein intake, upped the vegetable intake, dropped the carbs." Hate to tell you, Niko, but vegetables are carbs. Ask Dr. Akins. (His books; you're too young to talk to him personally). Whatever he's eating, it seems to agree with him. Let's hope becomes extensively disagreeable to opposing quarterbacks this season.

Also an insightful discussion with the coaches and Brian Peters on last year's team collapse following Persa's demise.

Until football begins (and for two months afterward): GO PHILLIES GO!
