He certainly is a nice guy. I was actually at a small gathering with him (perhaps 5 or so people) the night before NU's win over Wyoming in 1979 (our last before losing the next 34). We all were asking if we might actually win the game (we had lost about about a dozen games in a row at that point and had we lost that game, the streak eventually would have gone to over 40.) He said we would win this one for sure, and after the game I gave him a big thumbs up . Little did I know at the time we wouldn't win another game for 3 years

I do hope he can get his weight down so that he will have more of a chance to have some nice retirement years ahead of him

Subject: [NU Sports] Bill Jarvis retired?

Apparently one of the fixtures behind the NU bench has retired.

On Thursday, NU Announced a replacement for Bill Jarvis - the guy who was the equipment
"guy" for the Wildcats.

He was always at the football games, and I remember that he was always battling his
weight, even lost a bunch of pounds a few years ago.

Bill was a nice guy - hope he enjoys his retirement.
