[NU Sports] I want this at Ryan Field!

I think the conversion back to turf would cost about $2 million so we don't need
to worry about this ever happening. I just like the color purple and wouldn't
mind seeing it at Dyche. I don't really see it as being a gimmick so much now.
Boise State was definitely trying to use blue turf to create some buzz yeras
ago but we compete in the most well-known conference with it's own TV network -
we're already on the football radar.

I would MUCH rather spend $2 million to tear down the lousy south end zone seats
and rebuild a new student section right along the edge of the end zone. My dream
(spending other people's donated money) would be to put 8,000 rowdy bleacher
seats up over the south end zone with a band shell behind them so that NUMB
could really make some noise. It's just a dream, but it would be a much better
ROI than purple turf.

Go Meow!
Jim

Put me down as against. We are not a football school and shouldn't accent the
school with a football gimmick. Winning yes, good PR, yes, gimmicks, no.

Even before Boise State became a national powerhouse, the first thing someone
would say when you told them you went there or your kid was going there was ,"
Oh the school with the blue football turf". Do we want the same for NU ?

Look, I want a good football and sports programs like the rest of us, but this
just reeks of putting our priorities in the wrong order.

Do we know of  any gimmicks out there to attract more potential Nobel Prize
winners or other people who can make a major contribution to society ?

I rarely agree with SjT, but I think this would look awesome at Dyche. I had a
conversation with Coach Barnett back in the late 90s when we were installing new

turf. He told me that at the time purple was unavailable. He wanted black for
the endzones but the school wouldn't go for it. I noticed purple endzones at
Father Ryan HS here in Nashville so I knew someone was making it.  I think a
purple field with black endzones would be awesome.

Go Cats!

Well, not the gray alternating part (that's just weird).

But PURPLE TURF!!! YES!!!

This would be AWESOME for Evanston! :)
