I suspect the addition of the "pistol" set will help the RB's get going down field, since
with the shorter set, they're at the LOS inside of 2 steps.

It does put pressure on the OL to get out and block faster, and we might see them change
away from the zone schemes they've used in the past.

The Pistol set also puts a big premium on the QB dropping back faster, and the pass
blocking pushing the DL outside away from the middle.

Good thing is that Persa can snap the ball out to a WR or Slot as soon as he gets the
ball, and the DB's set up.

Important thing for the running game is everyone has had a year of watching what they did
on film and adjusting. All those times we groaned because a runner cut back up when he
should have kept going have been analyzed, and the RB's have hopefully taken directions.

There are also a couple of younger speedsters on the roster now who need to come in and
show what they can do. A little up front blocking and who knows, we might have another
1,000 yd rusher.

Being bored (and sweltering in Chicago), let us talk about the glorious
sport of football. Imho, I see our schedule breaking down into 3 parts...

The good -

Nebraska
Michigan State

Teams like us -

Michigan
Iowa
Boston College
Illinois
Penn State

The Bad

Eastern Illinois
Army
Indiana
Minnesota
Rice

If we fall to the good teams, and beat the bad teams, we can probably go
5-2. That leaves 5 teams like us - if we can go 3-2 against them. Does
anybody else see 8-4 (4-4) possible ? Perhaps the other Texas bowl game ?
Also, a good year to miss Wisconsin and Ohio State...
