We can, actually. Even if I hadn't worked in the admission office for 
four years, I would know with certainty that there is no way they would 
have discussed admission or recruiting standards/procedures with Teddy 
Greenstein or anyone else. I feel almost as sure that nobody in the AD's 
compliance office would have either. At best, his vague reference may 
have come from something someone on the football staff may have 
mentioned to him -- and that person (by design) wouldn't have all the 
facts, even if it were Pat Fitzgerald himself.

There was no "I doubt" in the initial message, but there was certainly 
an implication that our administration has "flunked" something. I have 
all confidence in the Office of Undergraduate Admission and the 
compliance arm of the Athletic Department regarding recruitment issues, 
and nothing I read in that article justifies that kind of criticism.

Beyond that, anyone is free to "believe" what they like. I don't have 
*all* the facts either, but I can still offer the ones that I do have.
