[NU Sports] No Les Miles for Michigan

Heard from some insiders today that this was a deal wired for Hoke from
the start.

Apparently there is deep division between the Bo faction of the alums
who want Miles and the Carr faction of alums who want Hoke (There is
some history of bad blood between Miles and Carr). Brandon met with
Miles only to satisfy the Bo faction, but did not tender an offer even
though Miles expressed interest.

We should know soon whether this is reliable information, but the
reports continue to come from LSU that Miles is staying.

Hoke, by the way, is on record saying that he doesn't have much respect
for teams that run the spread, calling it a trick offense. It will be
interesting to see how Denard Robinson responds if Hoke is hired.

"He will probably not be a popular pick with a sub-.500 career record as
a
college coach."

I'm sure you're right, but it just goes to show what fans know. Gene
Chizik
was 5-19 in his two-year stint at Iowa State, but it still turned out
pretty
well for Auburn, despite a lot of Tiger fans moaning about his hiring a
couple of years ago.
