Had Persa been ok for the Illinois game, AND we had played it in Evanston, even Zook would
accept that we would have won that game. He was quoted as being glad the game was in
Chicago, a friendlier confine that Ryan Field.
Don't think anyone was going to beat Wisconsin in November, altho most of their early
points were on turnovers.
Better D would not have allowed the two big comebacks, so we could have been playing in a
much bigger bowl game, but you never know.
Defenses get better with speed and experience. Playing frosh over upper classmen is
dangerous - I think Woody Hayes said you lose a game for every frosh you start.

Much too early for me to make any predictions for 2011. I did predict 7-5 this year but
got it right for the wrong reasons. I assumed we would only go 3-1 in nc and 4-4 in BT. I
am sure we would have been 8-4 if Persa hadn't gone down. But I do find it hard to agree
that we will be at least 9-3. In general we seem to win 1 perhaps 2 games a year that we
probably shouldn't or are predicted to but we tend to lose at least one that we should
win. In addition it is rare for us to win all of our home games against the big boys. Also
we always seem to be short at least a few players from a solid 24 (including both sides of
the ball and a P and PK). We tend to get exploited on any weaknesses. Hopefully Dan will
be at full strength and will give us a really good shot at a strong season, but I am not
yet willing to stick my neck out

return lots of people. We will be more experienced. I'm looking for at least a 9-3 season
in 2011. - Jim B.
