I think the Cats have been MORE talented the last few years than they have been
for most of the time I've been following them (1967), but I don't know that
they'll ever reach the roster depth of the football factories, and that
makes us one or two injuries away from mediocre (or worse.)
Stanford has had peaks and valleys, but I'm not sure if I would
prefer that to a long string of consecutive winning seasons
(and, of course, an end to the bowl victory drought.)
There's an interesting article on SI.com which points out that
if Nebraska has been part of the Big Ten this year, at least six
schools would have dropped down one rung in the bowl games, which
might have made the conference's bowl record better.
We'll see, sometimes I'm not sure that the bottom half of the Big Ten's
bowl committments don't produce harder games to win than the top half.
