[NU Sports] Stanford

We don't need Stanford's example as evidence of what can be done. NU
best teams have won the BT, which Stanford failed to do this year and
has only done once since 1995. The last time Stanford did win the
Pac-10 was in 1999 and they also lost in the Rose Bowl (Wisky). NU has
been ranked as high as 3rd nationally. Stanford is ranked 4th, but I
doubt they will jump TCU or the loser of the Auburn Oregon game. The
only time they finished the season with a higher ranking was in 1940.
Stanford's record under Harbaugh is 29-21 (58%) with two losing seasons.
NU's record under Fitz is 34-29 (54%) with only one losing season.
If Persa hadn't been injured, we would have won at least one more game
this year with a shot at three which would have raised Fitz's winning
percentage to 59%.
Hard to say how Stanford would have done if lost Andrew Luck, but he is
a big reason they are where they are.
I really hope that Harbaugh decides to stay at Stanford. That could
lead to Luck coming back for his senior year and Stanford making a run
at a national title. That would be great for college football because
it proves that you can have high academic standards, high graduation
rates, and success on the field.
If he leaves, it re-enforces the narrative that great coaches can't
accomplish all that they would like to accomplish at smart football
schools like Stanford and Northwestern.

That other school of bright kids from that private school out west were
mighty impressive in every aspect of the game tonight. I don't think
Tyrod Taylor knew what hit him. It can be done.
