Article in today's NYT (sorry I can't attach a link) talking about the increased recruitment ability of the Ivies through financial aid. They mention some kids now turn down NU (among others) to attend an Ivy due to new found flexibility in scholarship money.   

Harvard's #25 ranking in hoops seems to have helped precipitate the article

While this may be new I was told by multiple sources  that Dick Jauron (High School Class of 1969) chose Yale over Harvard due to more "need" in Yale's formula than Harvard's.  At some point subsequent to 1969, the Ivies supposedly went to a standard evaluation need process that determined the same figure for all 9 schools (including MIT) for any kid's ability to pay
