Regarding Bowling Green in 2003, BGSU lost in the MAC Championship Game but
had 10 wins (and was a 7 point favorite over NU) and Josh Harris (who also
killed NU in 2001 when the infamous Urban Meyer was the head man at Bowling
Green) did indeed lead them on a game-winning drive after NU took a 24-21
lead late. Credit must go to NU RB Jason Wright who ran like crazy in that
game with 237 yards on the ground plus more on kickoff returns (including
an 88 yarder). Here's the box score:

Note that the Bowling Green QB coach is now NU's OC: Mick McCall. (BGSU's
head coach was also Gregg Brandon, former NU assistant under Barnett)
Finally, regarding Purdue vs. Western Michigan (common opponents: Michigan,
who beat them both soundly, and Illinois, who barely beat W Mich the week
before they played NU but lost to Purdue): W Mich's QB (Carder) & top WR
(White, who was named to the Coaches' All-American team this week) are
good, but Purdue's defense is very solid and includes a top DT (Short) & CB
(Allen) who should be able to slow them down a bit. I think it'll be a
close matchup, as indicated by the close point spread right now (Purdue
favored by 2). Many people have this down their list of bowl games of
interest, but it could be an interesting game (and hopefully a chance for
the Big Ten to pick up a W).
