No, I was thinking of the 2009 team, but yeah, you could make a case that 2008 was better (Sutton being a big key difference there). But personally, I think the '09 bunch (when healthy) was the better team.  

The devastating rash of injuries on D early in the year probably cost us the Syracuse and Minny games in '09. 

Granted, the Cats were somewhat lucky to pull out wins against a couple of inferior opponents later in the year (Purdue, Indiana), but if the D had been healthy all year, and just one of a dozen things had gone differently in the Outback Bowl, that could easily have been an 11 win team.
