[NU Sports] Conference Shakeup - The Sequel ...

With speculation rampant that the SEC is not finished recruiting teams I'm surprised no one from our list has mentioned ohio state. We all seem to feel their ethics would have them fit in quite nicely with our southern neighbors. Cinncinati is considered by some to be "Southern" why not Columbus ?

Then we again ask ND to join

True about Mizzou seeing itself as a southern state and wanting to make a move so they don't get left at the altar again ... it just seems like a reach for the SEC, I guess, where as ATM, Clemson and FSU seem natural fits (surprised GaTech isn't in the mix ... would certainly give Vandy some company on the brains side of the league :) ).

I can certainly see K-State, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Baylor, Houston, etc. forming some sort of WAC/midwest conference. I probably feel the most for Kansas in this -- they have a much bigger athletics history than the other names just mentioned (mostly basketball of course), so to move down in league stature like that would create something like Memphis in CUSA for hoops.

I don't get the impression Texas is concerned with holding the league together, so without that it's crumbling. The Horns got the network they wanted and seem like they're the new independent power in the land (bye Notre Dame) -- Oklahoma better find a seat before the music stops, and Okie State better stay awfully close to their Sooner brethren as well.

If nothing else, it certainly has to make Osborne and the UNL folks feel all the better about their move. The Big XII was ready to crumble and they made a smart move for their school's future in academics, athletics and everything else.

GO CATS!!!
