Missouri in many ways still thinks of itself as a 'southern' state,
an attitude that dates back to well before the Missouri Compromise of 1820.
But Mizzou thought it had a Big Ten inviration in the hip pocket 18
months ago, and that fell through, so there may be an air of desperation
in Columbia today. And I would imagine folks at Kansas, KSU and ISU
are even more concerned. Maybe the WAC would take them?
Houston as a replacement for A&M is definitely a step down.
It will be interesting to see if the Big Twelve can hold itself together
again. Right now I give it a 50-50 chance of surviving another year,
and only 75-25 of surviving the month of August.
Will UT protect Texas Tech and Baylor? Will those schools do whatever
it takes (again) to stay in the fold?
Will the Big Twelve become the Texas league? SMU would probably sign up,
less sure about TCU.
