I hope you guys are spot in. As a fan I don't want to see him go. But I also hope that he realizes a key reason to go to NU is that he has (or could have) a prestigious degree to fall back on if he doesn't make it. And he certainly isn't a slam dunk to make it or make a ton of money attempting to go pro. I suppose he could always finish the degree in the off season if he does play pro but then again he might not. As Dennis pointed out, Autrey ,as a Heisman finalist (I think) is Exhibit A

I have to believe that's exactly what he's doing here. And (assuming he does
indeed come back), the exercise will probably benefit NU next year, because
Shurna will get some expert advice on how to improve his game.
I think that if John continues to improve over the next year, he will have a
decent shot at a real NBA career.
