<After taking a run at Dennis' claim that winning conference championships was the one and only thing [emphasis added] that affects college football attendance.

If you're going to try to refute an argument, try attacking the argument that was actually made. Please cite the post in which I said "winning conference championships was the one and only thing that affects college football attendance."

Save your time. I never said it.

What I did say was (emphases added):

"One thing and one thing only will guarantee full houses [at NU]: VYING for the Big en title year after year." Monday, April 18, 2011 9:53 PM

"All the programs you mentioned are among the most storied in the nation, ones with long traditions of winning" [period - "championships" was not there] Tuesday, April 19, 2011 2:52 PM

"Penn State's attendance fell when they weren't IN CONTENTION" and "Doesn't PERENNIAL CONTENDER OSU always fill their stadium? Tuesday, April 19, 2011 7:57 PM

Winning championships as the "only" factor in attendance is your terminology, not mine. I do insist that a consistent winning tradition will always be the overriding factor in obtaining high attendance figures and that number two factor doesn't appear in the rear view mirror. Otherwise, Baylor, Vanderbilt, Duke, Iowa State, and Indiana annually would fill their stadiums as surely as Texas, Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma, and Ohio State.

I'm done with this discussion. As far as I'm concerned, I'm just repeating the obvious.
