1. Oriole Park was packed with businesses who bought huge blocks of seats. Now that the tax situation in MD is more anti-biz, the number of seats owned by businesses is way down. The Nationals in DC and a losing record doesn't help either. (or the presence of the team on TV every night in HD)
2. Oklahoma had a waiting list to get on the waiting list. You had to contribute to the athletic dept to get on the first list then hope. The only seat in the stadium harder to get was a space in the broadcast booth.
3. I don't like the layout in Wrigley, and moving everything 10 feet to the west isn't going to make it any more attractive, altho watching on TV showed that Chicago fans love to come out to a football game in a bad layout in cruddy weather.
I'd prefer to play at Soldier Field, but that invites shots of Univ of Chicago (and all the negative things about big time football they engender) or long lens shots from a tall building, of N**** D***.
I know having the game a Wrigley allows more of Chicago to come to the game since the cemetery is seen as a border to a foreign country (and nobody rides the train beyond Howard) but the walk to Ryan is no longer than the walk to Wrigley and it’s the same train, Doh...

1 - Folks used to flock to Oriole
Park in Camden Yard and Jacobs Field in Cleveland when the stadiums were new
and O's and Indians were winning games. Now, there are lots of empty seats.
3 - Agreed, but what does that have to do with playing in a stadium so ill
equipped for football that you have to alter the game's fundamental rules to
play there? We got publicity from playing in Wrigley all right - negative.
You don't succeed with gimmicks. Just win, baby. Build a tradition and
they will come.
