[NU Sports] heading in to conference play

I understand what you mean about the potential for the team to rally around
Brewster but I think if they had any fight left in them after USC we would have
seen it last week against NIU. I watched the last quarter of that game and they
just looked flat and lifeless. I think that if we get any productivity on the
ground with Trumpy then Persa will pick them apart.
Go Cats!

I liked the 4-4 prediction, definitely dropping the PSU an Wisconsin road games,
and probably losing to Iowa and MSU at our place, though I figured both games to
be close, as we seem to play well against the Hawks, and MSU seems to self
destruct when not faced by ND or Michigan
4-4, 8-4 would net a nice Bowl, I would think. Speaking of which, what is the
official bowl pecking order ?
I am pretty sure about:
1 BCS Title OSU
2 Rose Iowa
3 Cap-One Wisconsin
4 Outback Penn State
All guesses...what are the remaining bowls ? I think Gator, old Cotton Bowl,
Tempe are involved ?
I also ran the Sagarin numbers from USA Today, just to see
The current numbers gave these surprising results:
@Minn NU -12
Purdue NU -16
MSU NU -4
@IU NU -8
@PSU PSU -7
Iowa NU pick
vs Ill NU -6
@Wisc Wis -5
Meaning Sagarin right now likes us to go 6-2, 10-2 which I would love to see,
but having watched these guys in games 1-4, I think that that is too rosy a
picture
PS Been reading the Star Tribune stories and message boards all week. Brewster
sounds like 'dead man walking', which adds to my fear of Saturday's opponent

Absolutely. Oddly, games like Minny and Purdue scare me just as much as anyone
else. Actually, at the moment, only Minny scares me. I think I've actually
bought into the "just go 1-0 this week" fitzspeak.
Here's something to think about:
I believe 6 more wins will make Pat Fitzgerald the winningest coach in NU
history. If we can somehow pull out the next 5 in a row, the Cats would go into
the home game against Iowa with a chance to put Fitz in the #1 spot.
A long shot just to be in that position, I know, and then you have the major
challenge of beating Iowa yet again. But just contemplating the possible
post-game feeling makes me a little light-headed.
