[NU Sports] heading in to conference play

8-4 sends us bowling again.

That assumes no let downs against MN, Purdue, Indiana, and ILL.

I like to think that we can surprise at least one of the other four, but
on paper I would have to agree with you. We have to be able to run the
ball and defend the pass better. Also our field goal/extra point
kicking is surprisingly erratic.

2010 will be our easiest conference schedule in the forseeable future,
because with the divisional alignment we will always have Michigan and
Nebrasa on the schedule starting in 2011, along with Iowa, Minnesota,
Michigan State and cross-division rival Illinois.

We've done fairly well against Iowa and Minnesota lately, but Michigan
State has been more of a problem.

Am I being pessimistic in thinking that 4-4 sounds right for the
conference
schedule? (Road losses to Penn State and Wisconsin and, sadly, a
Homecoming
loss to Michigan State and a loss to Iowa.)
