[NU Sports] Final: Arizona 34, Iowa 27

It was quite a game - I was torn because I would love to see Zona make it to Pasadena for the first time and have more of an affinity to them in my new home state than the Sun Devils (the Wildcats nickname helps :) ) ...

... yet I do want the Big Ten to look good on the national stage. I like years like last year when **WE** are the ones to hand Iowa their first loss and they're a top five team.

But after driving by Arizona's stadium and its old-stadium charm and closely packed-in surroundings, I can only imagine how loud it was because on TV the crowd looked like they were insane.

And it was a bit fun to see the Hawkeyes lose by the same formula they usually use on others - a couple key special teams plays to blow open a game they have no business leading. And the comeback was amazing, but that missed PAT took the air out of their momentum and Arizona really came alive on their last drive. And then on that last drive, Iowa just looked like a deer in the headlights of an Arizona blitz. Did they not know what was coming after the first two blitzes and sacks???

We all kind of knew it was coming ... this was the trap game on Iowa's schedule and they blew it. Kirk Ferentz and Lloyd Carr just don't travel well in September. Fun games, though. I liked ESPN's little slogan there - "Big Ten vs. Pac 10 ... 'Nuff Said!" I'd love to see more matchups between the two leagues, beginning with Stanford v. Northwestern!
