[NU Sports] General thoughts

Except for the 50% seating in the end zone on kicks, I thought the crowd shots showed a
pretty good turnout for Ryan on a rainy day.

NU is on a PR roll in Chicago, finally getting some attention, despite all the Trib Hype
for the Evil Empire.

NU has a local boy who bleeds Purple as a coach, and an AD who has street cred from being
in the area for a while.

All the Cats have to do is win, they (the fans) will come.

Regarding attendance, we actually had a pretty good turnout today.
According to the box score, we had 25,471 people in attendance at the
game, which is more than any other non-conference game at Ryan Field
since the September 10, 2005 game against Northern Illinois, when we
had attendance of 35,114.

Heck, our attendance today was more than all but two games last
season--both the Minnesota and Indiana games (and all three non-
conference games) last season had lower attendance than today's game.
We had over 30,000 last season for Penn State and Wisconsin, but even
those two were nowhere close to sold out.

Hopefully the relatively strong turnout today is a sign that we'll
have better attendance throughout the season. (I think it also helps
that we have one less non-conference home game this season, so the
casual fan that might just take in one game has one fewer game to
choose from.)

By the way, there didn't appear to be that many ISU fans there today,
in case anyone thinks that boosted the attendance a lot.
