[NU Sports] Sporting News loves the Cats

I was flipping through the 10/11 issue of Sporting News at a doctor's office
this week. This is the issue where they rank the best sports cities in the
U.S. Chicago was ranked #1, and NU was all over the magazine. 

 

.         They ranked of best moments from every team. Ours was the 96 Rose
Bowl, and the quote was from Schnur. 

.         They ranked the best college basketball players from Chicago.
Thompson and Shurna were on the list

.         Later in the issue they ranked the best markets (or geographic
regions, I don't recall). #1 was not just Chicago, but Chicago+Evanston. 

 

What's cool was that NU wasn't just an afterthought. In each of these
features, NU was given equal weight as all the other big-time Chicago sport
franchises. I don't know if we have Jim Phillips to thank for this or not.
Whatever the case, it was very gratifying to see NU get such prominent play
in a feature about Chicago.
