[NU Sports] Going back to Mike's question from earlier this week ...

Whew ... well, 3 or 10 or 24, a win is a win, right?

Anyway, back to the question ... how about this?

- Fitz has now led his team to six or more wins in four straight seasons (at Northwestern, that rates a WOW).

- Fitz has led this team with a new backfield and new leaders on defense (especially in the line and secondary) to six wins.

Yes, losing to Purdue looks worse each week, but 6-2 at this point is about where I expected to be ... we could be 8-0, we could be 3-5, but six wins is good to have in the barn heading into November.

Now we get to our big month. Last year, NU owned November and had two HUGE wins over ranked teams to move up to a January 1 bowl game. This year, we have two tough games in visiting PSU and a neutral site Illini matchup that we need to win ... and two biggies against top 15 teams that provide a chance to big upsets to push our bowl position up.

It's a daunting schedule, but it's nice to have six wins heading in, and hopefully we can duplicate last year's "November to remember" and get at least two and maybe three wins. All starts next week in Happy Valley, where - depending on tonight's game - JoePa could be going for #400. Gulp.

GO CATS!!!

PS - Obviously I'm hoping for January 1, but if not, Phoenix would be LOVELY in December!:)
