1. "I am not a big BCS fan because I want to go back to the old system" -
Brad Wilson
2. "I am a huge fan of college football but I don't care at all about
national titles." Jim Leonard
3. "No one has a "legitimate" claim [to a national championship] and it's
one of the only bad things about college football. Even worse is the B(C)S
trying to claim that their title is legitimate." Stephen Truog
When you think a system is "bad," you want to do away with it, and deem it
illegitimate, that is "harsh" criticism. Whether we're better off without a
national championship is another subject altogether. I would, however,
suggest that the concept of having a "number one" will never vanish, be it
football, chess, or debating because all contests have winners and losers,
and everyone wants to be the former. If the Northwestern football team were
to reach their last game of the season as the only undefeated team in the
country, are you saying that you would root against them so they would not
have to play for a non-"legitimate" national title?
