... do we control our Rose Bowl fate now? :)

Well, we would have if we had beaten Purdue - but someone will get those Boilers. And their little dog too! :)

But seriously, I had our two-game October homestand circled before the season as the key, and I was glad we had the bye week before MSU. The first half didn't go so well (but to be fair, I thought we'd drop one from the September slate, so it's a wash) ... but the fact remains that we have everything before us heading into the second half of the season. Beat Sparty and we'll be 6-1 and ranked and be in the thick of a wild race. Hopefully that's enough to get Fitz and the Cats fired up and focused for homecoming!

As for the games tonight ... seems like both OSU's are having difficulty at UW's, dropping down 21-0 - only difference is that Oregon State has made its way back, where Wisconsin woke up after OSU cut it to 3 with one heck of a drive that epitomized Badger football. The Beavers are sure fun to watch, though, as they come back at UDub. Oops, intercepted in the end zone trying to take the lead ...

I guess I will now be cheering for a Boise State/TCU rematch in Arizona for the title -- that would make the "cartel" (as Wilbon calls them) furious and only be fair if they run the table. Although Oregon and Oklahoma have the targets on their back now and do have some recent history for a fun match. The really weird one would be Auburn vs. Michigan State -- you'd think if they ran the table, unbeatens from the Big Ten and SEC should be automatically in the title game ... but both started the year outside of the top 20.

But first things first - the second half of the season begins tomorrow and the Cats are right in the thick of it with the league's last unbeaten coming into Ryan Field for homecoming.

LET'S GO CATS!!!
