I'm a "stadium neighbor" and proud of it. This is my fourth football season in the house. From my front door to my seats is just an 8 minute walk.
I don't think it's really true that the neighbors around the stadium have a big problem with games. The congestion doesn't last for long, and anyone who lives in the neighborhood knows how to avoid it. I'm not aware of anyone on my block who has had serious issues with fans. In fact, several of my neighbors profit from the games by selling parking on their front lawns!
I don't think the description of parties from last Saturday, though, had anything to do with the neighborhood around the stadium. The pictures and the text described the Maple Street neighborhood. Frankly, I thought the letter from the woman with the small child was something out of the Onion. I didn't really understand much of that, and it seemed like an isolated incident. But with respect to loud parties, public urination, public drunkenness, etc., I think students can be expected to behave themselves.
Like I say, I've had few, if any, issues in our neighborhood just blocks from the stadium, although last Saturday I got my first chance to chase away a guy urinating behind our house. To some extent, I had been preparing for that moment for a while thinking about how I would handle it (spray them with a hose, yell at them, call the police, etc.). So when I heard a couple guys behind our back fence before the game, I quickly moved into action choosing to simply pop my head up over the gate and yell at the guy, which scared him and his buddy away pretty fast. In hindsight, I may have overdone it, but that's the last time he'll do that behind my house, at least. Part of me hopes for an opportunity to catch an OSU fan in the act by wetting his pants with a quick spray from a hose, though I'm not sure I could ever pull that off.
