:) - you made me spit up over my keyboard with that. :)

It is kind of the reason why they play the game, isn't it?

And forget those trips to Pasadena with the B(C)S tinkering - just see how nostalgic you are when a 12-0 Michigan State or "never been there" Arizona gets dropped in favor of Boise State or TCU per the new rule.

But really folks, you can't sit there and say that "it's fun arguing over who's #1" so keep the system one day and then say "who cares who's #1" so keep the system the next day.

The Big Ten Network had the author of that anti-BCS book on and kept grilling him about "fans in Iowa who save up all year" to follow the team to the bowl game and all that tradition. And he countered with whether or not they'd trade a chance to play for a title over a trip to Detroit, Nashville or El Paso and a half-empty stadium.

You can still have the bowls if you want ... or do what Atlanta and Dallas are starting to do and move the bowls to the early part of the season (ala the preseason NIT in hoops) and set up a big September game fans can travel to for Labor Day. It's nice to have extra practice and all to play another6 or 7 win team, but if that's what's keeping you from change, then that's just not good enough.

You play to win and when NU goes 12-0, do we want to hear how they didn't play anyone in September or started the season ranked too low to keep us out like what could happen to Sparty this year ... or would we want our shot on the field?

Plus the increased revenue would do more wonders for the NU athletic department than two extra weeks of practice time - heck, just tack on a week to spring football or something.

GO CATS!!!
