Couldn't agree more.  Where did the obsession with who is number one in
college football start?  Who really cares about a "national championship"
anyway.  It doesn't deliver on what is really important to the school -
which Maureen so accurately sets out.  Let the football factories argue
about who is the national champion, it's part of what makes college football
enjoyable.  We'll take the extra practices, the bowl games and our soon to
be more regular trips to the Rose Bowl, along with our Big Ten
championships, turn out true student athletes and be all the happier for the
experience.
