[NU Sports] The elephant in the living room

The run defense was lousy, and these penalties are, as one lister put it, chronic. This could make the second half of the season quite unpleasant. I'm glad for our bye week. Purdue put it to good use; hopefully we can to. They kept using this little mis-direction that gave out defense fits.
Right now we need to trust the coaches. Since McCall and Hankwitz have been here, we've gotten better as the season progressed, especially November. I have a lot to say about Saturday as my fat arse was sitting in Section 130, but I'm tired from traveling 1/2 way across the country to see the boys lay an egg. Mother Kunkel would say, " if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
So I'll say thanks to Marilyn for inviting my son and I to her tailgate, and it was a blast saying "hi" to fellow list members, although I missed the chance to say hello to a couple more. Lee (my son) had a blast, except for the final score!
GO CATS!! Eric

This game wasn't Homecoming, Michigan State is. Sparty gets a rebounding
Illinois team
next week while we regroup, but MSU looked ready to take on just about anybody
today.
The complete absence of a running game is likely to be a big problem the rest of
the way.
