[NU Sports] Big Ten bowl picture ...

If you watched the Northwestern-Wisconsin game this past Saturday it would
be very difficult to argue that the Badgers ran up the score - their last
pass was about midway through the 4th quarter (they only threw the ball 19
times on the day while running it 54 times) and when the NU defense wasn't
missing tackles the NU offense was essentially handing the ball back to
Wisconsin. In fact, the Badgers took a knee 3 times inside the 5 yard line
to end the game.
In any case, I prefer to watch and enjoy the football games instead of
intensely focusing on one team that I'd like to win. But it definitely
helps NU's cause when the Big Ten does well - particularly in bowls, since
so many eyeballs are watching and the perception entering the following
season is heavily based on those bowl results (right or not).
Jonathan
PS: did you know that 5 of the 6 Jan. 1 bowl games this season will be
featuring Big Ten teams? That will be quite an interesting day.
