First off, Trumpy reportedly had a non-surgical fracture in is wrist and
should be back for the bowl game, although with approximately 5 weeks there
is a long way to go until then.
I do agree that being wholly dependent on one player in football is never a
good idea (since it is football and there is always a chance of an injury),
BUT the fact is that Persa is a special player who can make a big difference
and it's important to use his talents as much as possible. I do agree,
though, that the ground game could definitely use an upgrade because we've
all seen how dangerous the spread offense can be when the running game is
clicking (see 2000-2005). IMHO, there needs to be a change at the offensive
line coach position where the talent NU has brought in hasn't been maximized
at all - and I usually refrain from calling from coaches' heads.
In any case I'm excited to see what the NU staff will put together for the
bowl game because under Fitz it's obvious that they have been able to do
their homework - taking 2 heavily favored opponents to OT and having a
chance to win both games. I think that they should have a solid shot at
ending the bowl drought this season.
