[NU Sports] Iowa-Northwestern Rivalry?

Really? I guess I'll have to defer to you on that one, Joe, but from the outside, it seems like Minnesota's true rival is the Axe game with Wisconsin. The pig is just among the many other trophies that rarely get to stay in the Twin Cities and that beautiful new stadium. And I would bet that most Iowa fans would rather beat Wisconsin than Minnesota.
Sure, we don't have as cool of a trophy, but I'll take the Illinois-NU tradition - it's in-state, fairly competitive and has the whole private school vs. public school thing going.
And as for Michigan-MSU, growing up a Michigan fan ... OSU is #1, obviously, and Notre Dame is rival #1a. After that, there's a rivalry with Illinois that goes back and a new rivalry with Penn State ... and then there's that pesky kid brother in MSU. They're the farm school from the north that is full of the in-staters and UPers who couldn't even dream of sniffing Ann Arbor and its world-class university. :)
