Yeah. I pretty much agree that an undefeated TCU team should get the nod over a 1 loss team.  Not sure I feel the same way about Boise as they don't have a blowout win (on the road no less) of a top 5 team. But as for entertainment,  who besides TCU fans wouldn't prefer Boise?  The Fiesta bowl win over OK was one of the most enjoyable games many of us had ever seen. Too bad for those East coast fans who didn't stay awake for it

Yes the Rose Bowl rule seems a bit nuts. Of course those from the BT and Pac 1O are so used to the standard match up most of the past 65 years that the tradition seems sacrosanct.  

And I still think NU should be embarrassed. Not just losing by 14 in Happy Valley but doing just about everything wrong the last 31 minutes of the game.  It had to be more than just out-talented

Frustrating? Yes. Maddening? Sure. Embarrassing? Not so much for me - Happy Valley is a tough place and once they scored before half, you could feel that momentum avalanche coming on JoePa's special day.

It was a heck of a statement - but the other games of the day seemed to have more of an impact overall. Bama losing was huge because the Tide almost certainly would have jumped over unbeaten Boise and TCU at the end. Ditto for Oklahoma's loss. On the flip side, Oregon State's loss hurts as that's one of the few quality wins TCU and Boise both have (though Boise's win vs. VaTech looks better now).

Yeah, it's in Oregon/Auburn's court now - but both have tough tests at their arch rival's to end the year (and the claim of SEC superiority is losing steam every week with 60+ point shootouts against porous defenses and .500 teams in the title game from the east).
Right now, it appears TCU is set to jump in should someone slip, though Boise has a slightly tougher schedule left and did beat the Froggies last year in the Fiesta Bowl. I think if you asked most fans, they'd rather see Boise get a crack at Oregon than TCU.
The list of 1-loss teams who could jump TCU/Boise is pretty much at zero right now with Bama and Oklahoma losing. Wisconsin and MSU don't have any real big games left. Ohio State has one at Iowa but needs that Big Ten title game to come early. Nebraska and Oklahoma State have a shot, but I think even the computers are seeing the Big XII as overrated at this point. And LSU might have a case, but they won't even make it into the SEC title game barring a miracle ... though that's happened before.
My question is what happens if Oregon and a non-AQ get in the title game while Boise is still #3 or #4 - does that make the Rose Bowl obligated to take the AQ team over Stanford? Since the Fiesta is pretty much stuck with the Big Least team, the Treez need the Rose as they don't have the fans (couldn't even fill half their stadium for a prime time showdown last night!) for Orange or Sugar at-large selection.
I think the real question the B(C)S folks need to look at (besides that absurd Rose Bowl rule) is why the Big Least and ACC are allowed automatic bids at all. The Mountain West is clearly more deserving of a bid and was the last couple years. Right now, the ACC and Big East will be lucky to have as many teams ranked combined as the Mountain West.
TCU may deserve it, but Auburn's gonna get the bid unless they lose. Ditto for the Ducks. But the other games yesterday pretty much ensure that if the Tigers fall to the Tide or if the Ducks drop one to the Beavers, a non-AQ team will get their Butler-esque shot at the title. I just wish it were Boise, as I think they would have a great game with Oregon whereas I think TCU will get blitzed like a deer in the headlights.
