... because we need something to get us sidetracked from today's game (which I think won't be as bad overall in terms of moving on because we're just a footnote and JoePa's #400 is the main story).

What if the Big Ten title game had started one year early?

With Alabama losing today, there's still an opening for some 1-loss teams to sneak ahead of TCU and Boise into the title game.

Oklahoma probably has the best chance given the Big XII's love in the computers and their schedule left with Oklahoma State and a likely title game with Nebraska.

However, if we had the Big Ten title game this year, Wisconsin, Ohio State, MSU and such might have that extra chance to make a case as well. OSU still has the Iowa statement game ... but Wisconsin and MSU are essentially done with their big games. They won't really have a chance to creep up higher than #5 or so. But if there were a title game with OSU vs. MSU or so, they would have that big game in December to get noticed.

Guess we'll have to wait for next year, but Nebraska/MSU vs. Wisky/OSU in Indy this year would have been a lot of fun and a pretty big game between top 10 teams.
