[NU Sports] Expansion rumors on Rivals

Hmm, this actually could fit together.

The Big East deal about ND and leaving the rest alone has been elsewhere in the rumorverse, so that makes sense.

The 7-game conference schedule might just apply to everyone, leaving all of us with 5 NC games. That could be a big money boost to the big schools - not so much for NU.

The playoff thing is the wild card here ... if you have 7 league games and 14 teams, that would mean play everyone in your division and one from outside of the division (rotating? neutral sites?) ... then just leave it be with no title game and let the bowls sort out whether they want Division A winner or Division B winner???

That seems a bit of a stretch - it defeats the money purpose of a title game, but it would be somewhat workable since we usually get two BCS bids anyway. But Pasadena would be on the line! C'mon!

I think the solution there might be the seven league games and the title game -- frees up Texas or ND for more home games/keeping rivalries with OU or SC ... but also has that big mega-game in December with a Rose Bowl trip on the line.
