I couldn't find anything on the Freep site regarding the NCAA
investigation, though your post implies that this is the subject of the
Free Press article.
 
The only article I could find on the site deals with a real-estate
investment that went bad.  
 
Here's a quote from the attorney of the real-estate development group
that Rodriguez had invested in.
 
"Coach Rodriguez, as well as the remaining LLC members, were passive
investors in several real estate developments, including the Legends of
Tuscaloosa condominium project that is the subject of this recently
filed case. These projects suffered setbacks due to fraudulent actions
of its original promoter and developer, Lamar Greene. Greene was
arrested in December 2008, and charged with multiple counts of fraud
arising out of his operation of these projects as a Ponzi scheme, which
remains under investigation. This lawsuit appears to be one where one
victim is trying to recoup losses by suing other victims. Coach
Rodriguez will handle this personal matter through his own legal
counsel."
 
I agree that this is an unfortunate incident that further complicates
this man's life, but I don't think it is fair to suggest that this
incident or the article describing the incident has any bearing on his
ability to run a clean football program, other than perhaps poor
character judgment when he put his trust in Lamar Greene.  
 
I don't think that there is any value for NU or the BT in a weak
Michigan football program.
 
IMHO, as long as Rodriguez runs a clean strong program and doesn't break
any laws, this campaign by the Free Press for his ouster is just mean
spirited pandering to those who are still in mourning over Carr's
retirement.

While the investigation may or may not turn out to be big trouble for
Big
Blue, what their fans should be worried about is how many players
RichRod
has thoroughly ticked off.  Multiple players were responsible for the
reports to the newspaper and presumably to the NCAA about the training
violations, which means the dislike of RichRod must run deep. That won't
be
fixed easily or quickly, even if he survives a thorough NCAA
investigation.
Of course, if an investigation confirms the players' story, as is
likely,
then he is in even more trouble.  Michigan has never suffered serious
NCAA
violations in football and won't take those lightly - especially if they
keep losing.
