The NCAA has been running the NIT since 2006, and yes, they have had 
automatic qualifiers since then (including eight this year). I seem to 
remember explaining all this to you last year.

Home-game luck aside, Stony Brook qualified automatically as a 
regular-season conference champion, as did all other #7 and #8 seeds, 
plus Kent State. The last team in was clearly Northwestern, and yes, it 
was a reach.

The NIT doesn't "seem to think" they're the NCAA, they *are* the NCAA, 
and they have been for five years now. Outdated arguments are irrelevant.
