[NU Sports] NIT Question

As of this morning, ESPN has Minny in and Illinois out. What exactly that
does to NU's hope of the NIT is unclear. Data from different sources
differ. The biggest change made by the NCAA is to guarantee league regular
season winners who lose their conference tourneys and don't make the Dance
spots in the NIT. They were only a couple of those, so the damage to NU's
chances aren't significant. As in the past and to differ slightly with
Mike, it's not the ability to sell tickets that matters, it's the amount the
school is willing to guarantee will be sold. I don't know what the price is
this year, it's been anywhere from $35,000-$60,000 in the past, depending on
the school, size of their arena, etc. In short, as with most things
involving the NCAA, it just boils down to money.
