Surprised there is not much chatter on the game. Perhaps a lot of us couldn't watch or just too disappointed to talk.
But in my view we were just outmanned and outgunned on all fronts. However we came within a point in the closing 2 minutes which was amazing to me given the overall mismatch. And the stupid technical that cost us anywhere from 3 to 5 points !!
I don't believe in moral victories (as Lombardi once said "Show me a good loser and I will show you a loser") but the performance against Purdue yesterday and this year gives me a ton of hope for next year.
It would be nice to make the NIT and my bet is we will, but the dream of an NCAA berth is now out the window and emotionally my season for the Cats is done. (Why the heck do they even have the NIT anymore ? It used to be THE tournament but doubtful now anyone but the teams and their fans care about watching it).

Purdue's defense was stifling - - perhaps the season's best combination of fullcourt pressure on Thompson and focus on Shurna, the Cats didn't have answers for Moore and Johnson...and the bad night for Mirkovic really hurt (the back woes, the foul trouble and the unfathomable tech/five-point play, after what had been a promising start for him with three nice assists).
The Cats started on fire from long range, but many shaky possessions, missed opportunities and lapses on the boards caught up with them. It was a helluva comeback to cut it to one late, typical of a gutsy and memorable season.
Great for this team to have an unprecedented 20 wins and let's hope there'll be a shot at more in the postseason.
Regardless, Thompson's leadership and indomitability in the clutch, Nash's defense and improvement, Shurna's development into an unassuming star, Crawford's grace and promise...so much to enjoy and so much to look forward to...
So thanks to Carmody's Cats and here's to more!
